Get a track off Good Goose's upcoming mixtape for FREE - download 'Might Like You Better' now

"did you remember to set the alarm on the coffee maker?"
Good Goose is part of a band called Menya, quite unobjectionable to look at, and a "disc jockey" at "the clubs."  He is also very good, as his name would suggest - but is somewhat unfortunately not an ACTUAL GOOSE.  (sad face emoticon)  Good is quite the busy guy these days, but has recently taken some time out for himself.

After touring with Menya for the last few months, Mr. Goose has decided to give the world a taste of his DJ skills with his very first mixtape.  It is called 'Lyin With The Flesh Flyin' With The Goose' (amazing) and is a collection of downtown-dirty dancefloor bangers with sparse lyrics and clever knob-twiddling.  The 11 tracks are all BANGING and SHOUTING and GROANING and BEING GENERALLY DEBAUCHEROUS IN THE MEDIUM OF RECORDED SOUND and are also, on the whole, QUITE ABOVE AVERAGE.

While his band Menya serve up hooky pop gems with a sunny/skanky flair, Goose has taken the party night clock and fast-forwarded it to that point just after 3am when you realize you're in a terrifyingly humid BoHo basement with some shirtless twinks and a couple of trannies, wearing someone else's underwear and all out of poppers.  In other words, none of these underground electro nuggets is ever going to end up on KISS FM, but we have a feeling Mr. Goose quite prefers it that way.

The whole mixtape will be available tomorrow, March 8, but the Good man himself has given ScopiSat and our loyal readers a special exclusive sneak peek.  Take 'Might Like You Better' for a spin, download it, wear it out, and don't forget to come back tomorrow and grab the album HERE for absolutely free.

Menya is giving it away for free! Get their first 2 EP's now!

"WE ARE QUITE EXCELLENT."
There is a thing called Menya and it is very good.  It is 2 girls and a boy and some listenable music and also, sometimes, stuffed animals, even though the plush things don't actually sing ( :( ).  One of the members, Good Goose (the boy), is about to put out a balls-to-the-wall-brilliant mixtape (Note: exciting), and ScopiSat might just have some exclusives for you from the man himself (Note: EXCITING).  But until then we can all get our Menya fix on by downloading the band's first two EP's for ABSOLUTELY FREE.

For the unindoctrinated looking for a jumping off point, check out 'Oh!' off the band's 2008 'The Ol' Reacharound.' It's fun and happy and it has a video, and really, in a recession that's about all you can ask, isn't it.  Also the band as a whole are not unattractive which certainly doesn't hinder the clip in the least, and at the end of the day, the fact of the matter is the song title features PUNCTUATION which means it is AMAZING.

Now go get your free downloads at the Menya website HERE

Menya 'Can't Hurry Love' in new video! Watch the premiere now!

ScopiSat fave Menya is about to embark on a big tour, and thus will likely not be recording much for the next couple months.  To tide us over, though, they've been kind enough to do this RATHER NICE cover of The Supremes' 'Can't Hurry Love.'  As with many of their songs, Menya have done a video to accompany it.  We think you'll like it, mostly because it has MENYA in it and AN ACTUAL HIPPO.

We were right, weren't we?

Yes.  We were.

Menya want to give you an album for free (free download link)

Here are some reasons we love Menya:
1.  They are from New York City
2.  They make music
3.  The music they make is very very good
4.  They are all quite attractive
5.  We want to marry Good Goose a little bit
6.  They are giving away their new album for FREE if you go HERE

There are quite a few other reasons but we'd rather listen to the album than list them out for you because we are selfish.

In case you've forgotten how LITERALLY AMAZING this band is:

Menya get Loose

After last week's brilliant covers, Menya gives us an original jam. It's a sexed-up party track in the vein of Imani Coppola (happy) but as of now there's no 'real' video (sad).

Menya's new (and free) mixtape is out October 2nd

Menya covers 3OH!3

The final of three promo covers this week from Menya leading up to their new single is a response to 3OH!3's 'Don't Trust Me.' It's a bit like the original except good.

Only 3 days until the new Menya single!

More Menya! And this time they hook up!

We all already know that Menya is amazing and that they have a new single 'dropping' on the 31st. Now we have the second entry in their '3 Covers' week, in the lead up to its release. Today brings 'I Hook Up,' originally and inferior-ly by Kelly Clarkson. Witness the greatness.

Menya madness for a whole week!

Earlier today ScopiSat posted a cover of a Vanessa Carlton song, but what we didn't tell you is that it is just the tip of the iceberg. In a lead-up to Menya's NEW SINGLE on August 31, the band are putting out 3 covers of their most loved or hated songs with some nice little viral videos to boot. The first was the aforementioned 'White Houses' by Ms. Carlton, and if it is any indicator of what is to come, this whole week is going to be very very good, with another to come on Wed. and the last on Friday. To celebrate, let's all watch "White Houses" again. We'll wait.

There we are. It really is quite good, isn't it? Essentially it is the polar opposite of the Heidi Montag debacle. She is the dark, Menya is the light, etc etc.

Check back on Wednesday for the next video! In the meantime, hit up the band's Myspace

Menya covers Vanessa Carlton and makes it AMAZING

Here's another great video and song from ScopiSat's favorite indie, Menya. This time around they've covered 'White House' by Vanessa Carlton, and put a...different spin on it. Check out Good Goose front and center! We've always wanted to get inside his bedroom...here's the chance!

And check out the FAME-y original:

Next time ScopiSat wants to see the band doing killer ballet moves like Ms. Carlton, but because we love you we will let it slide.

The world needs more Menya

ScopiSat loves a good unsigned band, and quirky New York City Bowery/Lower East Side/Hipster-eschewing-but-still-kind-of-hipster trio Menya certainly fit the bill.

Their Myspace is quite fun and you can check out pics of the very good-looking kids in the band - especially the 'beat man' Good Goose. Go there.
