All Hurts want for Christmas is New Years Day in new video - watch now!

We love Hurts.  You should love Hurts.  Everyone should love Hurts and anyone who doesn't should go sit on a steak knife.

Here's their new video for their moody and broody holiday track 'All I Want For Christmas Is New Years Day'.  It's all retro and stylish and features lots of slicked back hair and vests.  In other words it is EXTREMELY WATCHABLE.

We thought this melancholy song was the perfect post for today, as a delightful (CURSED) snow is gently falling over New York City and reminding us all that Seasonal Affective Disorder is a SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION.

For Hurts, it is a 'Wonderful Life' - dance to the delightful Freemasons mix now!

Hurts are from Manchester.  But before you let that turn you off, they are also very stylish and make some excellent music.  There are two of them (thus, we imagine, the reason they are Hurts instead of just Hurt) and one of them is very attractive and one of them can sing very well.

Up til now Hurts have been one of those bands that make all the critics vomit superlatives over themselves but don't really find any commercial success of note.  That might change, however, with this rather genius Freemasons mix of the group's new single 'Wonderful Life.'  It manages to be completely poppers-friendly while still being credible, and as EVERYONE knows that is a very hard line to toe.

The video itself is a re-edit done by something called a 'Riley York' and we are pretty sure it has nothing to do with Hurts officially, but does manage to make the original video fit the feel of the mix a bit more.

And yes.  We have a crush on the guy in the band that just stands there too.

Hurts show us what is 'Better Than Love' - listen to our new favorite single now!

Hurts were impressive when they were stripped down and super emo on their last single 'Blood, Tears and Gold.'  Apparently being impressive was not enough, as the guys have upped their game on the follow-up.  When we say they upped their game we mean they handily won the match, killed all the other players and then did some sort of "scorched earth" maneuver so that the battlefield would not even be usable for generations to come.  We tend to use the word "amazing" quite a bit, but we super really mean it this time.  For real.

The single is out May 17, with the album following in August.  We suggest you buy both.

Hurts show you their 'Blood, Tears and Gold' - watch the video now

Music elitists:  You have a new band to promote and go on and on about until people start listening to you, they become popular, and you are forced to hate them for "selling out."

The duo Hurts have been making some waves recently, and 'the blogs' continue to buzz about them even though they're not exactly the most mainstream sounding band vying for listeners' attention at the moment.  This video for non-single-but-sort-of-single 'Blood, Tears and Gold,' however, proves that given a chance (we're looking at you, Radio 2) the guys just might break through.  By 'break through,' of course, we mean score a number 33 also-ran and top the Belgian iTunes Electro-Alternative Synth EP chart        for  a couple hours on a Sunday, but it is what it is.

Anyhow, readers, if you're looking for an early week pick-me-up, go watch Gabriella Cilmi's new video again.  But if you're in the market for a moody and surprisingly touching synth ballad, we've got just the clip for you.

"Intriguing."
