THE NEW DRAGONETTE SINGLE IS HERE AND IT IS PHENOMENAL

THIS IS A THING THAT IS WONDERFUL
Only in the rarest of circumstances do we post twice in the same day but THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, albeit mostly because we were lazy and forgot to post the Saturdays thing earlier.

But the real reason we are posting twice is because no matter what else happens in the entire world we are morally obligated to write about any new Dragonette music because they are LITERALLY AMAZING, and because they are without a doubt the most underrated band in existence today.  Both of these statements are facts and if anyone reading this doubts them, they can sit on a knife because that person is of no use to a society that values incredible songs and also because fuck you, don't question us.

Anyhoodle, here's the new Dragonette.  We already mentioned that it is AMAZING but let us just underscore once more that it is ACTUALLY TREMENDOUS in the most epic sense possible and deserves to be number 1 for 17 weeks and then win every Grammy including the spoken word children's book category which is an actual thing for some reason.

Dragonette and Martin Solveig are BACK and 'Big In Japan'

"I am French so I make this gesture."
Dragonette (aka the best band in the world that you've never heard of) has once again teamed up with French DJ producer extraordinaire Martin Solveig for a brand new single that sounds exactly like their last one, 'Hello.'  Which is an amazing thing.  Because 'Hello' was amazing.

Dragonette have long been a ScopiSat favorite, due to their being the actual greatest group doing music at the moment, but have yet to break through on their own.  Nevertheless, they've achieved great success with the aforementioned 'Hello,' which ruled clubs the world over all year, and a number of writing credits on some very big albums.  They even penned one of our other pop pets, Nicola Roberts' latest single 'Lucky Day.'

Solveig, for his part - his quirky, head-banded part, has been pretty active in his home country, and actually made quite a few waves around Europe.  Once 'Hello' came out, of course, he "blew up" as the kids say, and has since been rumored to be working with no less than THE ACTUAL MADONNA.  So...stay tuned.

As for their new single, it's called 'Big In Japan,' and it is a banging, hop-up-and-down-to-the-beat-until-the-floor-collapses type tune, complete with a donk on it and a catchy melody.

The track also features something called an Idoling!!! (yes, 3 !!!s.  Because, why not.) which "the blogs" say is a girl band or something who is kind of like a Japanese version of Sugababes but a bit more shit.  They don't have a whole lot to do in the song, but they are indeed BIG IN JAPAN so we suppose it made sense to include them.

Here's the tune in all its glory, along with a delightful video.

As the track says:  "Keep my head down, look away from the flash/ I’ve got a plane full of people saying I’ve got a smash."

Let's hope they're right.

Here is some of Nicola Roberts' new single 'Lucky Day'. We don't need to tell you that it's amazing. (but we will anyway)

This is Nicola filming the video for 'Lucky Day.'  In New York.  WHERE WE LIVE.
It is no secret that Nicola Roberts is amazing.  That is, it is no secret to us and two of our friends that Nicola Roberts is amazing, while it remains a complete secret to the rest of our friends, some people we don't like, and the record buying public at large.

Her debut single was a love-it-or-hate-it phenomfest of the highest order, that limped to #27 thanks to an ill-advised on air/on sale release.  We wrote all about that debacle here but the long and short of it is that IT WAS A STUPID IDEA AND SOMEONE MUST PAY.

Chart floppage aside, Nicola IS amazing, ladies and gentlemen, to the point where if the next song she chucks out isn't number 1 for seventeen weeks we will do something drastic and unpredictable like move into Xenomania's basement or become vegetarians. So....do with that what you will.

Also, while we're on the subject, you know who else is amazing?  Dragonette.  Yes, the ones that did that song 'Hello' with that guy whose name you can't pronounce.  But also the ones who did the phenomenal debut album that no one heard, and the even better sophomore album that a few more people, but still not enough to not qualify as "no one," heard.  So when we discovered that Nicola's second single will be 'Lucky Day,' her collaboration with the band, we squealed we with delight, did a bit of the dance from the 'Beat Of My Drum' video and then exploded into a cloud of pixie dust.

BUT NOT BEFORE WE WROTE THIS.  (obviously)

Anyway, here's a video of some parts of the song.

AMAZING.

Martin Solveig and Dragonette have put out a BRILLIANT video and song - watch 'Hello' now!

Dragonette have long been ScopiSat faves, and DJ Martin Solveig has become somewhat of a pop genius as well.  The two previously teamed up on 'Boys and Girls,' and have joined forces again on the absolutely great new single 'Hello.'  Solveig seems to have a thing for roping random celebs into his videos - 'Boys and Girls' heavily featured Jean Paul Gaultier - and 'Hello' is no different.  Rival DJ Bob Sinclair stars, and the DJ throws in some other random cameos just for good measure.

The song is an electro-stomp of epic proportions, and really drives home the point that Dragonette is one of the most underrated bands on this planet right now.  While they are admittedly critical darlings, they've only managed one top 40 single in their home country of Canada, and their latest album is their most successful, having peaked at......#63.

In any case, the whole affair is a delight to watch and, with Wimbledon fever in effect, the tennis theme is quite timely as well.  If you don't like your videos with lots of talking, fast forward to 3:15, but hey, it's a long weekend.  You've got the time.

Dragonette make it look 'Easy' in new video - watch the masterpiece now!

What to do with Dragonette?  The brilliant band has tried and tried again to break through, but while their output keeps inexplicably getting better, the response always seems to be a resounding 'meh' from the pop masses.  We posted a live version of 'Easy' the other day, and mentioned that it's not likely to turn around the band's chart fortunes, but in true good-spirited fashion Dragonette have given their small but devoted legion of fans the gift of a video for the track.  Needless to say, it is quite good.

Now for the next album they'll probably work with RedOne and 3OH!3 and become huge :(

Dragonette (the band no one knows but everyone should) are 'Easy' - watch the live video now!

We love Dragonette.  We worship them, in fact.  We sometimes wonder, in our darkest moments, if we can really continue to live in a world that does not also love and worship such an OBVIOUSLY SPECTACULAR band.

They've been on the cusp of breaking out for about three albums now, but we hold out hope that one day, somehow, it will actually happen.

Until then, here is their new single, performed live on CBC Radio One's GO:

"Incredible."

Because the live session isn't the highest quality, here's the original taken from their current album, 'Fixin To Thrill.'

"INCREDIBLE."

The single is out this spring.

Dragonette Pick Up The Phone in new video

This is Dragonette's new video. In the video, Dragonette's lead singer vandalizes a high school with a blond person and then drives around a parking lot in slow motion. There are two things we should get from this. 1. High schools are bad and MUST BE STOPPED. 2. This song is very very good.

It's a bit like Gwen Stefani singing 'Cool' but different because it is Dragonette.

Things that are BRILLIANT-ER

This new Dragonette song is quite amazing, isn't it?

Yes it is. Then again, that's just par for the course for the band...

Also, kudos to the Saturday Night Fever edit. A media degree put to good use.
