Seriously, someone needs to tell Mariah to cool it - watch her video premiere for 'Auld Lang Syne' now!

Mariah at home (in outer space for some reason) with her pet Nick Canon
After her ALL CONQUERING (read:  ratings flop) Christmas Special on ABC the other night, which barely edged out bona-fide viewer sinkhole 'Skating With The Stars' in terms of aging gay tv-watchers, Mariah has somehow already moved on to the next major holiday, New Years' Eve.

To celebrate the upcoming calendar change, Team Butterfly has knocked together a sort of "U.S. dance music in the 90's/Russian dance music now" rendition of traditional NYE anthem 'Auld Lang Syne'.  Because, why not?

The video would be hilarious if she didn't seem to ACTUALLY BE TAKING HERSELF SERIOUSLY, but with tens of dollars and dozens of cleavage inches behind it, at least it's better than 'I Wanna Know What Love Is.'

All Mariah wants for Christmas is a hit single - listen to the premiere of her brand new X-mas tune

Mariah's last album, 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,' in addition to being one of the most horrifically named records in recent memory (ScopiSat actually was hoping for 'Mariah Carey:  The Squeakuel'), was a BIG BUDGET EPIC FAILURE, whose very mention strikes terror in the hearts of record execs the world over.  It has been certified Gold in the US thanks to some dodgy wrangling and chart technicalities (the record label shipped just over 500,000 copies, even though far, far less have been sold) while in the UK the whole project tanked outside the top 20.

Regardless of her recent commercial failures, mental breakdowns, general trashiness (seriously, we know you love butterflies, just leave it alone) and high-calorie stress eating, Mariah is still remembered fondly for her hits, perhaps none more than 'All I Want For Christmas Is You.'  It was (and remains) that kind of VERY RARE pop Christmas song that becomes an instant classic - that all at once seems timeless and of the moment - and really sets the tone for the holidays.

Well, Miss Cannon has decided to try to catch green and red lightning in a bottle once again.  Because that's super easy to do.  To be honest we kind of stopped caring about Mariah once she "recovered" from her little bout with insanity, but we suppose the song is pleasant enough.

Now that it's October, when the holiday season inexplicably begins for some reason, we can all enjoy this little slice of festive mediocrity.  And then go listen to 'All I Want...' again because it is still AMAZING.

Mariah ruins our Olympic experience with '100%' - watch now!

Remember when Mariah Carey did 'Someday' and 'Honey'?  Yeah this isn't like those.

Mrs. Cannon, in her unending musical wisdom, has decided that this year's Winter Olympics doesn't have enough hand flailing and breathy over-emoting, and - always the giver - has gone ahead and filled that gaping void.  '100%' is her contribution to the Team America soundtrack that NBC has been pimping every ad break for the last week, but we can't be too negative about it as the proceeds go to fund young athletes.

'100%' is out now but just turn your local NBC affiliate at any given time.  You'll hear it.

Mariah gets 'Up Out My Face' in new video - watch now!

Oh, Mariah.  This 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' thing didn't go quite to plan, did it?  Mere weeks after the release of the parent album her label is doing the universal 'hail mary,' releasing a remix album of the album's tracks (see: Madonna's 'American Life').  To launch the impending mess, here's a video that features Mariah being 'funny.'

The remix album is out in March

Who wants to see Mariah Carey giving a speech WASTED? (video)

Mimi's been having a pretty alright year, all things considered - showing all the popstar-to-actor wannabes how it's done with a role in Precious, and....well ok, that's about the only thing that's gone right this year for her, but still - so who can blame her for celebrating a little.  Well here she is celebrating a LOT at an awards show while receiving a best supporting actress award for her work.

Mess.  Now let's watch again.

Mariah Carey overemotes and says I 'H.A.T.E.U' in new video - watch now

...and Mariah, the feeling's mutual...

Mariah Carey's "I Want To Know What Love Is" video is here and no one cares (full video)

It is FINALLY here, the moment you've all been waiting for! The new Lady Gaga video is out! Also Mariah Carey has released this snooze-fest for her new single. In it a cross-section of urban America watches (interracial couples! gay couples!) as Mariah sings to them with her dead, dead eyes.

Mariah's new album is out now in the US and out Nov 23 in the UK

Barbra kicks the pants off Mariah and Madonna on the US album charts

Diva War '09 has come to a close, and I think we'll all agree the result is somewhat unexpected.   A 67 year old just beat Mariah to the Billboard 200 pole position by quite a few copies, and beat Madonna by a few hundred cargo ships full.  Not only that, but Mariah got beat by emo band Paramore.  Last go-round Ms. Carey bowed with about 400k in her first week, but she's clearly off her game, only managing to pawn off 168k.  Madonna, meanwhile, is way down at 7, which isn't tragic for a greatest hits package, most of which has been released in greatest hits form already.  So that's done and dusted then.

Memoirs of Mediocrity: listen to Mariah's new album (video)

So after weeks and weeks of promo, tepid response, and bad Foreigner covers, we finally get a glimpse of the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. It is.....less than perfect. None of it is particularly bad, mind you, we just wish Mariah would push herself just a little bit. Just once. For us.

You can also listen to the album in its entirety ahead of its release over at Mimi's Myspace

Mariah challenges Madonna by delaying album AGAIN

According to Def Jam, Mariah's new album, which was already delayed once because of the lukewarm reception of lead single 'Obsessed,' has been pushed back again. Mariah's also pulled out of a number of promotional appearances. This whole 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' mess is getting worse by the day. Officially the delay is to allow Mariah to record entirely new tracks for the set, but it sounds more like Def Jam is just treading water until they figure out how to put the promo plane back on course. The conspiracy theorists among us will note that this is the SAME DAY AS MADONNA'S greatest hits package and clearly there is some sort of DIVA SMACKDOWN afoot. If you ask ScopiSat, both ladies could sure use the press...The new release date is Sept 29 and I'm sure we'll all be holding our breath to see who comes out on top.

The new Mariah album will be even tackier than expected

Mariah's label is hoping that her tunes sell more than just sex and earplugs. Apparently her new album 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' (don't get me started again) will include a 34-page booklet with advertisements for things like champagne (because Mariah fans love to drink) and the Bahamas (because they like to drink in beautiful tropical places). The plan is part of the effort to bring the Majors back into the black, but there's something a little disturbing about the whole thing. This month's Billboard magazine has more, or check out digitalspy's article here
