Anjulie gets under her "Headphones" - is she the Canadian Lily Allen? Listen now!

Here is a delightful track by Anjulie, an Ontario native who has made a moderate impact on the Billboard dance charts in the last few months. Her music has been heard on everything from The Hills to The Vampire Diaries, and with a new album coming out soon, 2010 just might be her year. This new song, called 'Headphones,' is a light and springy number but with a lyrical bite and wit reminiscent of Lily Allen. In other words, it is very good and deserves a good listen.

See, that was nice, wasn't it?

Chart Chat UK: January 3, 2010

Lady Gaga reigns supreme once again, as 'Bad Romance' edges up 2 places to kick Joe Mcelderry out of the top spot. The only new entry in the top 5 is Ke$ha, whose 'Tik Tok' keeps its momentum going. We're in that weird stagnant time of the year when sales are a bit sluggish and there can be lots of movement - like Alexandra Burke's 'Bad Boys' flying up 13 places despite being 12 weeks old. Next up is the odd chart life of 'You've Got The Love' by Florence and the Machine. The album has been flying off shelves for months now, and in fact the single peaked at 16 a good number of weeks ago. This week, however, sees the single scale a brand new height of 13, up an impressive 18 places on the back of a new video and promo push. Down at 22 is the first new entry in the chart, by Wiley and something called Chew Fu. Stay tuned to see how this one fares next week when people start remembering to buy music. A final note mention should be made of Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name,' which after a triumphant Christmas number 1 victory brought on by a grass-roots fan campaign, drops 2-40. Though the success wasn't long term, the overwhelming response to the campaign has led to others - most notably one to get Girls Aloud's only single to miss the top 10, 'Untouchable,' into the top 10, thereby preserving their "every single charting at 10 or higher" perfect record. Like in the Rage Against the Machine campaign, fans of the song/band are to download the track en masse in a specific week, in this case, the week of February 1st. Stay tuned to see how that turns out.

The UK Top Ten:
1 - Bad Romance: Lady Gaga
2 - The Climb: Joe Mcelderry
3 - Meet Me Halfway: Black Eyed Peas
4 - Tik Tok: Ke$ha
5 - 3 Words: Cheryl Cole
6 - Starstrukk: 3Oh!3
7 - Don't Stop Believin': Journey
8 - Russian Roulette: Rihanna
9 - You Know Me: Robbie Williams
10- Look For Me: Chipmunk

The first "next big thing of '10": Mary N'diaye - a little Gaga, a little Rihanna

Most blogs started their "hotly-tipped for '10" lists back in like, 2008, but ScopiSat prefers to bide our time and see who actually makes it down the record label pipe. Turns out, back in 2008 a lot of people were right, and Mary N'diaye is gearing up to be quite huge. Let's look at the evidence:

The Evidence:
1. She is working with Akon
2. She is AMAZING
The end.

Yes, it is looking very good for her isn't it.

Here is "Take Me Home," which is an absolutely brilliant piece of pop.

Mary's cover "Oh, Pretty Woman" is out on iTunes in both the US and in Europe/UK, and is a must-download. No really. Do it now.

One Republic have 'All The Right Moves' in new video - watch now

Ryan Tedder and his band One Republic are back with a song that sounds....like every other Ryan Tedder track. That's not a bad thing, of course, as he's penned such masterpieces as 'Apologize' and Leona Lewis' 'Bleeding Love.' We're totally loving the subtle updates on the formula though - the more organic guitar and drum sounds, particularly. The video we could take or leave...it's a bit 90's throwback (Annie Lennox 'No More I Love Yous,' anyone?) but the whole thing ends up a solid 7/10.

The song is out January 11, from One Republic's forthcoming new album

Happy New Year from ScopiSat and Kylie

2009 comes to an end in mere hours, and since we celebrated Christmas with some Kylie it seems only appropriate to do so for the new year as well. Here's Kylie singing 'I Should Be So Lucky' on Jools Holland for New Years a couple years back. Here's to a great 2010!

Billboard's Top 25 of '09 in under 5 minutes

So '09 is drawing to a close, and the next chart will be officially dated "2010," so we now know with absolution what the top 25 tracks of the year were.  And what does one do with such powerful knowledge?  Jam them all into a five-minute megamix, of course.

DJ Earworm is at it again - see if you can name all the songs.

Literally Amazing.

A friendly holiday reminder from Amy Winehouse (photo)

Crack kills, kids.

Paloma Faith wonders if "You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful" - watch the video now

While Amy Winehouse is "otherwise engaged," somebody has to pick up the MOR-retro-throwback banner.  That somebody is Paloma Faith.  Your grandma will love it, your kids won't hate it, and after it's over the world will be exactly the same.

Still, pretty video though.
The single is out now with an album in February, and a U.S. launch sometime in 2010.
